Selecta Company History
In 1968 Tilmann Förtsch and Günther Menzel founded Selecta, in order to provide educational, high value toys for young children. Though specializing in toys for babies, Selecta also produces an original array of family games, learning toys, and dollhouse accessories. The look of a Selecta toy is almost instantly recognizable; toys are done in bold primary colors, with the grain of the wood often visible underneath. Basic, identifiable shapes dominate the form of the toys, while faces are always sweet, simple and smiling.
Materials and Safety
Selecta designs and produces their high quality wooden toys in the Bavarian region of Germany, where they also obtain the fine hardwoods used to make their toys. Paints are all non-toxic, and often additionally coated in protective beeswax to make the toy saliva resistant and safer for teething babies. Renowned for the dedication to safety, Selecta tests their toys in conjunction with the well-known standards lab TUV. All products are made in order to adhere with both American and European standards of safety.
